Pradeep Gupta

Pradeep Gupta pioneered IT Media in India as early as 1982 when the entire computer industry was very small. Envisioning that Information Technology in India would grow by leaps and bounds, he began niche publication in India, which introduced a totally new business paradigm in the country. As Information Technology took roots in India, it was Cyber Media (India) Ltd., which helped record, report, influence and catalyze this process. Various publications that were started under CMIL umbrella are Dataquest, PC Quest, Voice and Data, DQ Week, Living Digital, Biospectrum and DQ Channels.
Pradeep formed International Data Corporation (India), in association with IDC USA and was responsible for making IDC (India) the leading provider of market research information and strategic consulting to all leading IT vendors operating in India.
He has also founded Cyber TV to prepare TV programs on IT for a wide audience and launched a School of Convergence at International Management Institute to produce content creators and content managers of the future.
He is also a general partner of Infinity Venture India Fund, an Angel Fund, to provide venture capital to IT start-ups. He is also the non-executive Chairman of eGurucool.com and charter member TiE, Delhi and charter member of Association of Indian Magazines.
Pradeep has addressed the Indian computer industry on numerous occasions such as seminars and conventions organised by National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM); the Computer Society of India (CSI); Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT) etc. He is quoted regularly by international and national newspapers and magazines such as Asian Wall Street journal, Byte, International Business Week, India Today, Business India, Economic Times, Times of India, Doordarshan etc.
Pradeep has done B Tech from IIT, New Delhi in 1975 and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from IIM, Calcutta.
He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by IIT Delhi, Hellen Keller Award by National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People, Bharat Vikas Award by International Business Council and Award of Excellence by IEC Software Ltd. |

Abraham Thomas
MD, IBM India |
Abraham Thomas, Managing Director, IBM India and IBM Global Services India is responsible for all IBM's sales and marketing, services and exports operations in India.
Prior to this appointment, he was the Director, Financial Services Sector for IBM ASEAN/ South Asia, overseeing and managing IBM's operations, sales and marketing activities to banking, finance, securities and insurance organizations across six countries in this region. Before which he was the General Manager, Business Server Systems for IBM in ASEAN/ SA, responsible for sales of the full range of IBM mid-range servers.
Abraham began his career with IBM in 1986 as a territory representative for the Small and Medium Business solutions unit. In his 17 years with IBM, he has undertaken many roles including product management, sales and marketing and various management positions in ASEAN/ SA.
He is an active executive committee member of the Singapore Computer Society and has organized social, networking activities to promote interaction within the local IT industry. He is also a National Council Member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and heads their e-governance committee. He was one of the young achievers to meet Mr. Tony Blair, Prime Minister, United Kingdom, during his India visit earlier this year. Abraham's views on the future of the IT industry in the country and on the way large multinationals function have been quoted often in the media, both print & electronic.
Abraham is a Business Administration graduate from the National University of Singapore.
He was recognized with IBM's Hundred Percent Club, for exceeding his sales quota for eight consecutive years. He was also awarded the 1997 IBM ASEAN/ SA General Manager's Award for outstanding business performance. He was named one of the Top 10 IT Executives of the Year in 2001, in a poll run by the ITNation Business Review magazine. |

Puni Rajah

Puni Rajah is the Vice President of IDC Research across the Asia/Pacific region that comprises of the software, services and cross product divisions. She is responsible for determining research direction and focus, buyer preference, vendor market strategy, industry forecasts and regional developments.
Puni mentors and leads IDC's analyst teams in Asia/Pacific and coordinates research with local analysts throughout the 14 countries regionally. Her expertise in project planning and structure, problem solving, project management and teamwork help to deliver systematic and integrative research objectives.
Puni joined IDC in 1996 to establish IDC's European Expertise Center for Support and Operational Services, and progressed to become Director of IDC's European Services research program in 1998.
Prior to joining IDC, Puni was Market Development Manager for OliService (subsidiary of Getronics) based at Olivetti's headquarters in Ivrea, Italy. There she had global responsibility for market intelligence and business development and helped to establish OliService's international service offering. She moved to this position from Dataquest, where she set up the European Professional Services Program for consulting, systems integration and outsourcing services in Europe. Prior to this, she was Business Planning Manager for Cray research service in Europe.
After reading Economics at Brighton Polytechnic, Puni trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (Price Waterhouse Coopers). |

Joydeep Bose
Director, Strategic Programs - India, Intel Technology India Pvt Ltd. |
Joydeep Bose is the Director for Strategic Programs for India and represents Intel's Corporate Technology Group. In this position, his role is to identify and evaluate technologies for the convergence industry and source, build and invest in technology projects. Bose works closely with Intel CTO's organization at Oregon in defining research & collaboration programs with industry, government and education community, for Intel's next generation technology, new usage models and localization aspects of computing and communications building blocks.
Prior to joining Intel, Bose was Managing Director of National Computer Systems-India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecom focusing on Broadband Infrastructure and Internet consulting. Bose was the key sponsor for SingTel's entry strategy to India and launch of several managed IPLC/FR/ATM services for corporate customers. Bose also served as the Pro-Tem CEO for Sesami.co.in a b2b Joint venture between SingTel and HDFC Bank. Bose was also the Country Business Director for AT&T - Managed Network Solutions responsible for India and Singapore.
Bose also spent 7 years in Singapore where he headed the Networking Infrastructure Group of National Information Infrastructure Division (NIID) at National Computer Board (now IDA), Singapore under Singapore's IT2000 master plan. He played a major role in the setup of Singapore Broadband (ATM) test-bed for multimedia application trial and a consultancy role to Singapore Cable Vision's Hybrid Fiber Coax full service network. Bose represented the National Computer Board at the Singapore Telecommunication Standards Technical Committee (Broadband Chapter) contributing to policy, tariffing , Service Levels and defining universal access obligations. He was also selected as the Program Committee Member for ACM-IEEE Community Networking Forum in California USA. Bose was also the founder member of Asia - Special Interest Group under ATM forum in early nineties while at NCB. Bose was in the team that founded Hewlett Packard India software Operations in Bangalore in 1988/89.
Bose started his career in Research & Development at India's first telecom switching company CDOT as a principal member of the Core team and as a Telecom Engineer at Indian Space Research Organization, Ahmedabad. He has authored several papers in technology/business journals on ATM/IP and Full Service Networks and had the distinction to be speaker at several International Events/Conferences while in Singapore and India.
Bose has Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta. He has completed an Executive Management Program at AT&T Business School New Jersey in 1996. |

Alok Bharadwaj

As the Director and General Manager of Canon India's Consumer Imaging and Information Division (CIID) and Volume products, Alok Bhardwaj is responsible for building the Canon Brand and growing the company's sales and channel infrastructure in India.
An industry veteran, Alok has over 17 years of experience in brand building, sales force management and consumer marketing. He has so far visited and serviced over 300 Indian cities and 16 countries including Europe, USA, Australia, Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia amongst others.
Prior to joining Canon, Alok had worked with Motorola's Paging and Cellular division from 1994 - 2001 as the 'Head of Channels' for India and SAARC. Before that, Alok had put in a five-year stint with the Appliance division at Usha International, where he was a Marketing Manager. This shift to consumer marketing, came after Alok had started his career and worked for four years with Voltas as a sales manager for its Northern region.
Alok has a first degree in mechanical engineering from the Engineering college of Chandigarh, which he followed up with a MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies - New Delhi. |

Raman Roy

As Chairman & Managing Director of Wipro Spectramind, Raman Roy is responsible for the company's strategic direction and is the key driving force of the company's mission and business philosophy.
Raman, is widely regarded as the pioneer and "guru" of the IT Enabled Services Business out of India having played a pivotal role in proving India as a Locale for Remote Processing and has successfully delivered servicing solutions from India. He has lead the Indian initiatives of two of the largest players in this arena in India viz. GE Capital and American Express and has been associated with setting up organizations which have created over 10,000 jobs in India to service the needs of organizations in USA, Europe, Japan, Asia, Pacific and Australia.
Prior to Spectramind, Raman was associated with GE Capital where he successfully led the setting up of their flagship Remote Processing Centre. The center presently employs over 11,000 local Indian Staff. Raman was responsible for the conceptualization and implementation of the initiatives including establishing new Global Service Businesses from India which focused on providing comprehensive high value add process & service solutions to international clients.
Before his successful stint with GE Capital, Raman, was the Business Leader of Accounting Operations with American Express and played a played a key role in setting up a global centralized accounting facility in India catering to Europe, USA and Japan Pacific Asia Australia region. Raman's contribution included evolving the strategy, designing and development of the 'centralized' center of excellence.
Raman is a member of the Executive Committee of NASSCOM and also a member of the IT Enabled services Committee of NASSCOM and CII besides being a member of various committees set up at State level by the State governments in India.
Raman is a Chartered Accountant from India and Chartered Management Accountant from UK. |

Kapil Dev Singh

Kapil has nine years of industry experience, out of which seven years has been in market research and consulting. He has been associated with IMRB, a leading research firm and part of WPP group, for three years. Last four years he has been working with IDC (India) Limited.
At IDC, Kapil has headed various research initiatives like Corporate Research, Internet & Communications Research, Software & Services Research before becoming the Country Manager, where he looks after the complete operations. He leads a team of 40 people of which 25 are analysts.
Kapil has spent maximum time on Software & Services Research Group, which he has built from scratch over a period of three years. He has been the key in taking pioneering efforts in sizing and understanding the software & services market in India and has been working very closely with the leading players. He has been instrumental in understanding the key markets like outsourcing services and opportunities for Indian players, upcoming technology areas like ERP, CRM, SCM, ASP and xSPs.
Before joining IDC he worked as an Associate Project Director in Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB). In this capacity he headed a team of three consultants and was associated with the Business and Industrial Research Division (BIRD) of IMRB, which has a focus on IT/ Telecom Industry. Kapil is also a regular speaker at various industry forums and IDC sponsored briefing sessions.

Som Mittal

Som Mittal is the President & CEO of Digital GlobalSoft - a leading company in IT services export. Digital is the only listed subsidiary of Compaq in the world.
Som joined Digital in 1994 as its Managing Director; in 1988, he facilitated the integration of Compaq/Digital merger and later led the transformation of Digital into a purely software services company.
Prior to joining Digital, Som was with Wipro - where he helped create Wipro Peripherals and later was Chief Executive of the Business Solutions Group.
Before entering the IT field in 1989, Som has held several senior positions in the Auto & Engineering industry. He set up SRF, the joint venture with Nippondenso, Japan to manufacture auto electricals. Prior to this, he was with Escorts in the Yamaha project for 5 years. Som started his career with L&T in the finance function.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Som has many important positions in sate and national apex bodies which has helped build company's image and also in shaping policies for the industry. He is Chairman, National Association of Software & Service Companies (NASSCOM); National Council Member & former Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII); Member of the Chief Minister's IT Task Force, Government of Karnataka; Governing Council Member, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) and Founder Member, Board of IT Education Standards (BITES).
Som is a 1973 graduate from IIT, Kanpur. He subsequently did his MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has been nominated to several advanced programmes at Harvard and IMD.
Som has been recognized for his contribution and achievements in the Indian Corporate sector and received a Distinguished Alumnus Award by Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK), Nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award - 2001, Business Leader of the Year - Rotary International. |

Sabyasachi has seven and half years of industry experience, out of which seven years has been with IDC in market research and consulting.
