Making IT Matter: Finding Opportunities, Defining Value |
| |
Today it is more important than ever for IT vendors to understand where the industry is headed. Although the US and other major world economies continue to struggle, there is some good news on the horizon - the outlook for 2004-05 is more optimistic than it has been for the previous few years. And while the timing of the economic rebound is unknown, it is certain that it will not bounce back to levels of IT growth we experienced in the past. The challenge is to find the opportunities that offer real hope for sustained growth. Innovative new products and technologies will continue to create opportunities for IT vendors. Hence, it would be essential for IT companies to position themselves as providers of value to both business executives as well as CIOs.
DIRECTIONS 2005 will paint the macroeconomic environment, which prevails today and its impact on the ICT industry. It will also present analyses on the performance of the domestic industry in the last one-year and examine key mega-trends that will shape the new context for IT in the years ahead.
The other key topics that would be discussed are:
-
IT spending trends in emerging verticals like BPO and Telecom, and traditional verticals like BFSI and Manufacturing
- Domestic IT services as well as IT/ITeS exports
- Infrastructure management and integration, and
- Current dynamics in the PC and Peripherals market
IDC analysts and invited experts would throw light on issues like: How can growth be sustained? What are the emerging opportunities and threats? What are the factors that will drive growth?
